E-commerce is expanding rapidly. Platforms like Shopify, Magento etc. have surfaced over the years to support this trend. With a large number of businesses setting up shop on these, competition peaked. So, platforms like Shopify shed their humble beginnings to evolve into more powerful solutions with new features and apps developed and added by their global teams of developers. Some of these include integration of Facebook Shop, umpteen payment gateways, new digital marketing and monetization techniques etc. As a result, proprietary solutions could no longer keep up with them. This is exactly why we took a decision to migrate the huge proprietary e-commerce system of our client, Kill The 8, to Shopify. We have successfully migrated 200 stores with 80,000 products and 10 million customers along with providing a variety of customization solutions.
While working with our client, Kill The 8, we faced a challenge of hosting multiple brands on a single Shopify shop. The problem with this was that the brands could end up losing their exclusivity and risk using the same theme as the others for displaying their products. To overcome this, we customized the liquid templates in a way that enables each brand to retain its footprint right from the landing page to the Thank-You page.
The concept of having one Facebook shop for every Shopify shop did not support the requirement of our client, Kill The 8. This website houses multiple brands under one roof supported by one backend code. Each brand’s presence on Kill The 8 needed to be supplemented by separate Facebook shops linked to their individual Facebook accounts. So one shop wouldn’t do the trick. But our developers are always one step ahead and have made this possible. Now every brand on Kill The 8 can be reached directly by their followers from the Facebook shops on their separate pages.
A Shopify shop allows transaction in only one currency. However, a merchant with his/her business spread across multiple countries may like to provide customers with the option to transact in his/her native currency. We have made this possible by setting up multiple Shopify shops, one for each currency, with all the shops synced with each other in terms of products, orders, and inventories using Shopify API. The merchant now has the advantage of adding or updating products and inventories in only one shop and that would propagate automatically to the rest of his Shopify shops.
Shopify does not permit customization of the checkout experience beyond a certain limit. So we built a fully customized checkout section for our client, Truniagen, on a separate web server. This redirects the buyer from the Shopify cart page to the custom checkout page along with all the cart details, thus providing a seamless user experience.
When a Shopify/Magento/Opencart shop hosts multiple brands, it becomes necessary to provide each brand owner with a console to monitor and preview sales pertaining to his/her brand. To make this possible for our client, Kill The 8, we built a client portal where each brand owner has his/her unique log-in credentials to view the details of only his/her online store. We used the API of the e-commerce platform (that we created the store on) to fetch product, customer, order and inventory details from the brands’ online shops into the client portal.
A merchant on Shopify or Magento would like to have his own mobile app for several reasons. One strong reason is the ability to send discounts and offer information via push notification. Another reason is the ability to conduct an accurate and drilled-down analysis of customer behavior. To facilitate this, we have built a ready-to-plug-in mobile app that can be personalized and tied with Shopify or Magento or any popular e-commerce platform in no time.

One of our clients, Rainvac, had been using an OpenCart e-commerce platform for some years. But he wanted to sell his product line on Amazon, e-Bay, and Overstock as well. However, he wanted to use the OpenCart platform for fulfillment of all his orders. Hence, we used Amazon, e-Bay, Overstock web services/webhooks etc. to sync the orders and shipping information in real time with Overstock. This has enabled the client to administer one platform only while selling his products on multiple platforms.
